Sunset Lounge

From the 1930s through the 70s, Black elders remember the Sunset Lounge in West Palm's Historic Northwest District as a place where jazz legends like Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong, and Duke Ellington performed. Now it's back.

The restoration is nearly complete for the Sunset Lounge, a historic venue in West Palm Beach that attracted some of the most influential Black jazz and soul singers from the 1930s through the 70s.

Florida Memorial University wants to create a pipeline to get more Black students into tech jobs. And gender and sexual orientation, should they be talked about at home or in the classroom? Plus, a nightclub makes a comeback and helps revitalize history.

The legendary Sunset Lounge is returning as part of a broader revitalization effort in the Historic Northwest District.
