When Christopher Columbus High School student Peter Callahan climbed to the top of section 306 in Hard Rock Stadium during the Miami Hurricanes-Syracuse Orange football game this past Saturday, he never expected to start a movement. But what began as a bet between father and son quickly turned into an unforgettable moment of gridiron madness.

The Climate Café Series is designed to bridge the gap between complex research and community understanding of the events shaping South Florida’s future.

University of Miami to host forum on crisis facing Florida's coral reef

The event, part of the recurring Climate Café Series, is titled “The Future of Florida’s Coral Reef: New Approaches for Rebuilding Resilience” and will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 29. The discussion will be moderated by veteran journalist Jenny Staletovich, WLRN's Environment Editor.

Preliminary data released by the University of Miami revealed Black student enrollment fell from 9% to 5% for the Class of 2028. This is the first class impacted by the 2023 U.S. Supreme Court ruling that overturned affirmative action, preventing a race-conscious admission process.
