It's Wild On WLRN-TV Monday Night!

Will Benson/©Oxford Scientific Films and THIRTEEN Productions LLC

Starting at 8:00 p.m. on Monday, March 17, tune into a night of natural wonders! Nature’s Honey Badger - Madness of Mayhem, Wild's Golden Baboon and Australia's Southern Seas.

Nature: Honey Badgers – Masters of Mayhem (8:00 pm)

“Honey badger is bad ass.” Those words and corresponding video became a YouTube sensation with 51 million hits. This relentless little creature is one of the most fearless animals in the world, renowned for its ability to confront grown lions, castrate charging buffalo, and shrug off the toxic defenses of stinging bees, scorpions, and snakes. Little is known about its behavior in the wild or why it is so aggressive. Our film will follow three badger specialists in South Africa who take on these masters of mayhem in ways that must be seen to be believed.

Wild! Valley of the Golden Baboon (9:00 pm)

Valley of the Golden Baboon

Marvel at this epic story, seen through the eyes of the king of the resident golden baboons in the Luangwa Valley, one of the last true wildernesses in Africa. It appears to be an idyllic setting, but below this tranquil scene, is a concentration of animal drama found nowhere else in Africa.

Wild Australasia: Southern Seas (10:00 pm)

Wild Australasia: Southern Seas

Australia may be famous for sun, sea and surf, but Southern Seas shows that there’s so much more to the marine life in Australia than Bondi Beach and the Great Barrier Reef. Beyond the busy east coast these southern seas break all the rules – they are stranger and more spectacular than anywhere else in the world.

Mermaids and dragons glide through the clear blue water, bizarre fish ‘walk’ along the bottom and on tropical beaches, crabs and seagulls have a tug-of-war for food. Even the sea lions here are weird. Southern Seas journeys around the dramatic coasts of Australia and New Zealand revealing the unique wildlife in these waters.
