The new Perez Art Museum Miami opened Dec. 4 and wrapped up its first week alongside Art Basel. And now that the museum is settling in, it's kicking off its free monthly programs.

PAMM's monthly events will happen every second Saturday of the month and is free and open to the public. They'll include family exhibition tours, performances and art-making events.

This Saturday, Dec. 14, 12 female drummers from Miami and New York will perform in "First Beat."

Mindy Abovitz, founder and publisher of the drumming magazine for women "Tom Tom Magazine," composed the performance exclusively for PAMM.

Every hour from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., the drummers will put on a show in different areas of the museum. Families are invited to create their own drums as part of the art-making program.

The Perez Art Museum is located at 1103 Biscayne Boulevard.
