WLRN was recognized with four National Headliner Awards for its 2018 news coverage.
The National Headliner Awards was founded in 1934 by the Press Club of Atlantic City and it's one of the oldest and largest annual contests recognizing journalistic excellence in the United States.
WLRN's work competed with news organizations of diverse sizes from around the country and it was recognized in the following categories:
- Second Place in Documentary or Public Affairs: “Samples of WLRN’s Sundial Show” by WLRN News staff
- Third place in Newscast: “WLRN Covers The Marjory Stoneman Douglas Shooting” by WLRN News staff
- Third place in Feature and Human Interest Story: “How Songwriting Helped Two Parkland Students Find — And Share — ’Hope For The Future” by Jessica Bakeman
- Third Place in News Series: “Vote Already! WLRN’s Guide to the 2018 Florida Ballot” by WLRN News Staff
WLRN has won 14 National Headliner Awards since 2012.
