A job fair dedicated to connecting felons to employment opportunities is coming to Riviera Beach.

Bishop Thomas Masters, a former city of Riviera Beach mayor, is hosting the job fair. He said people who have been convicted of felonies are often overlooked in job fairs that are open to the general public.

"They should have an opportunity to present themselves to employers who are willing and able to hire ex-felons or returning citizens, so that’s what we are doing here," Masters said.

Job fair organizers have partnered with the state sponsored program CareerSource to help connect attendees with potential employers beyond the event.

"So everyone that registered, they’re going to get a call from CareerSource and then they will start working with them one-on-one to get jobs that they may not have received through the job fair, so we have a follow-through program," Masters said.

The fair takes place Wednesday, March 31 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Fellowship Hall of New Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church.

Masters said employers who would like to participate in the job fair can reach him directly at 561-247-2713.
