As more cases continue to be confirmed, health officials and medical workers in Wuhan, China, and throughout the country ramp up efforts to contain the spread.

There have been no cases of the coronavirus reported in Florida so far, according to the Florida Department of Health.

State health officials say they can’t release information about how many people have been tested for the novel coronavirus that causes COVID-19.

Meanwhile, it’s the peak of flu season. Hundreds of Floridians have died from influenza and pneumonia this year.

On The Florida Roundup, hosts Tom Hudson and Melissa Ross discussed the state response to the virus with Justin Senior, CEO of the Safety Net Hospital Alliance of Florida and Dr. John Sinnott, chair of the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine.
