500 Years Circumnavigating Earth

03/04/13 - Monday’s Topical Currents is with Harvard history professor Joyce Chaplin, author of ‘Round About the Earth: Circumnavigation From Magellanto Orbit.  Humans have circled the globe for some 500 years.  Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gargarin was the first to achieve the feat by spacecraft.  There are fascinating tales in that history:  encircling the planet was once considered a conquest.  Now, we can book air tickets by smart-phone to go around the world.  That’s Topical Currents . . . Monday at 1pm on 91.3 WLRN-HD1.
