V1: Hitler's Vengeance Missle - In retaliation for devastating Allied bombing raids on German cities, Hitler orders the development of a ground breaking weapon. This is the story of one of the most ambitious projects of the Third Reich — the V1. Despite being ready too late to make a difference to the outcome of the war, its legacy is the cruise missile — a weapon that changed the face of war.

9pm WORLD WAR II: The Price of Empire -  The history of the Second World War.

A Date in Infamy - While the Germans are invading Russia, Japan continues to pervade the East and changes the war with an attack on Pearl Harbour. The Germans advance deep into Russia, reaching the gates of Moscow. And then the winter comes. The U Boat campaign is causing major disruption to shipping in the Atlantic. Tobruk is besieged. Japanese troops reveal their country’s true expansionist plans by occupying Southern Vietnam and Cambodia. But the day that changes the war comes at the end of the year, on December 7 th when Japanese carrierborn aircraft attack the American Pacific Fleet at anchor in Pearl Harbor.

10pm THE GREAT WAR: American Experience - History - Drawing on unpublished diaries, memoirs and letters, The Great War tells the rich and complex story of World War I.

Told through the voices of nurses, journalists, aviators and the American troops who came to be known as “doughboys.” The series explores the experiences of African-American and Latino soldiers, suffragists, Native American “code talkers” and others whose participation in the war to “make the world safe for democracy” has been largely forgotten.

America's tortured, nearly three-year journey to war, is explored. Reports of German atrocities and submarine attacks on American ships erode neutrality, finally leading to Wilson's proclamation that "the world must be made safe for democracy."
