Tropical Storm Watch Issued For Florida Keys As Laura And Marco March Toward The Gulf Of Mexico

Tropical Storm Laura forecast

A tropical storm watch was issued late Saturday afternoon for the Florida Keys from Ocean Reef to Key West, as Tropical Storm Laura headed for the eastern tip of the Dominican Republic with 50 mph winds.

The Cuban government issued a tropical storm warning for its eastern provinces and the Bahamas issued a watch for Andros Island.

Forecasters at the National Hurricane Center said Laura is moving toward the west at around 18 mph. Their forecast track showed the storm’s center moving away from Puerto Rico by Saturday evening, traveling over the island of Hispaniola during the night, and then over Cuba on Sunday and Monday before entering the southeastern Gulf of Mexico.
