WLRN News Wins 3 National Edward R. Murrow Awards

WLRN News has won three recognitions in the latest edition of the National Edward R. Murrow Awards.

The Edward R. Murrow Awards are issued by the Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA) to honor "outstanding achievements in electronic journalism" since 1971. News organizations from all 50 states submit their best work for this competition.

The Migration Maze, a joint project with The Miami Herald, was recognized as the best Audio News Series in the Large Market Radio Station Category.

Shark Attack On The Beach! Footvolley's Popularity Taking Off In Florida, the U.S., won the award to the best Audio Sports Reporting in the Large Market Radio Station Category.

WLRN was also recognized along with  fellow public media stations WUSFand WMFE for its work in the Health News Florida project.  This partnership received the National Murrow Award for its website on the Small Online News Organization (Audio) category.

"The works of journalism receiving these awards highlights the broad range of projects we tackle, our ability to successfully and deeply collaborate with our partners and, most importantly, the capacity for first-rate journalism on behalf of our audiences,"said Tom Hudson, vice president of news at WLRN.

WLRN News had already won 6 awards in the regional edition of the Edward R. Murrow awards, announced last April.
