WLRN News Wins Four NABJ Salute To Excellence Awards

WLRN News has been honored with four  Salute to Excellence awards by the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ). 

The Salute to Excellence Awards honor work from print, television, radio, online, photojournalism, and public relations. Winners for the 2017 edition were announced Saturday, Aug. 12, during NABJ's 42nd Annual Convention and Career Fair in New Orleans, the largest annual gathering of journalists of color in the country.

WLRN was the only radio station that won more than three awards. Here are the winners: 

In the Radio News category, Short Form, Top 15 markets:

In the Radio Public Affairs: Interview Discussion category, Top 15 markets:

The Sunshine Economy: Cops And Communities, Nadege Green and Tom Hudson. 

In the Radio Investigation category, Top 15 markets: 

Schools Suspensions Continue In Spite of Miami-Dade's No-Suspension Policy, Rowan Moore Gerety. 

In the Radio Sports category, Top 15 markets: 

Dribbling The Way From Haiti To A College Scholarship, Rowan Moore Gerety.
