Listen To The Candidates On The Race To Be Florida's Top Prosecutor

Three of the four major party candidates for Florida Attorney General. From left, Democrats Sean Shaw and Ryan Torrens, and Republican Ashley Moody. Republican Frank White declined the interview invitation.

Florida's Attorney General is the state's chief legal officer responsible for enforcing the state's laws and protecting consumers. The office defends state laws in civil court and represents the state in criminal conviction appeals courts. As a member of the Florida cabinet, the post also has a role to play in the restoration of felon rights, assuming Amendment 4 fails to get at least 60 percent support in November.

It is a statewide elected position with several candidates vying for their party's nomination in the primary election. Stand your ground, the opioid crisis and the safety of senior citizens are just some of the issues in the race.

WLRN, along with the editorial page editors of The Miami Herald, The South Florida Sun Sentinel and The Palm Beach Post spoke with most of the candidates running for Florida Attorney General.

You can listen to the interviews with Democratic candidates Sean Shaw and Ryan Torrens:

You can listen below to the interview with Republican Ashley Moody. Republican candidate Frank White declined the interview invitation.
