Today Is National Voter Registration Day. Are You Registered?
Floridians are scheduled to go back to the polls in six weeks to elect the new governor of the state, the attorney general and agriculture commissioner, as well as representatives to the legislature and U.S. Congress. Did you register to participate?
In the state of Florida, the deadline to register to vote is Oct. 9. The next general election is scheduled for Nov. 6, with early voting sites opening several days before in all four South Florida counties.
Several organizations have grouped under the umbrella of National Voter Registration Day to encourage citizens across the country to make sure they have registered to vote. You can find the list of events happening on Sept. 25 here.
As of Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2018, Palm Beach County reports 929,061 registered voters. In Miami-Dade County, 1,404,623 residents are currently registered to vote. In Monroe County, there are 53,379 voters. In Broward, there are 1,164,184.
