Federal law enforcement and the firearm industry have launched "Don’t Lie for the Other Guy," a new public awareness campaign in Miami warning that buying a gun for someone who can’t legally own one is a serious federal crime.

The U.S. Supreme Court allowed the ATF to continue enforcing regulation of “ghost guns” while a legal challenge continues.

President Biden has picked Steve Dettelbach, a former U.S. attorney for the northern district of Ohio, to lead the agency as the administration cracks down on so-called ghost guns.

David Chipman, a gun owner, was a special agent at the bureau and advises the Giffords advocacy group. His nomination comes with the rollout of White House initiatives to try to curb gun violence.

The moves come after recent high-profile mass shootings put added pressure on the president to act on gun violence.
