North Miami Official Suspended After Arrest
North Miami suspended its purchasing manager without pay on Friday, after the city's police chief confirmed he was recently arrested.
Court records show MarcAnthonyTulloch was arrested by Sunny Isles Beach police on July 24 for third-degree grand theft and official misconduct.
According to North Miami City Manager Aleem Ghany, the felony charges stem from Tulloch's time as purchasing manager at the City of Sunny Isles Beach.
A spokesperson for Sunny Isles Beach was not immediately available for comment.
Ghany says North Miami will launch an internal investigation into its purchasing department during Tulloch's tenure.
"I'm looking into all transactions," Ghany says.
Tulloch was hired by North Miami in January. His annual salary was $79,400, not including a $250 car allowance and $50 cellphone allowance.
This is the second high-profile arrest of a North Miami city official in the past three months. The city's former mayor Lucie Tondreau was arrested by the FBI in May for alleged mortgage fraud committed before her time in office.
North Miami councilman Scott Galvin says he heard rumors about the arrest earlier this week. He says it didn't surprise him when the rumors were confirmed.
"I can't say I was too surprised only in that here in North Miami a new scandal seems to roll out every week," he says.
