Connecting During COVID-19: How South Floridians Are Coping With Parenting, Milestones And More

Life in South Florida has been upended by the novel coronavirus.

Restrictions and official orders have disrupted just about every part of our day-to-day lives. With that in mind, we want to get a sense of how COVID-19 has impacted you.

Every Monday morning in June, we held conversations spanning from parenting during the pandemic, celebrating life's milestones, dealing with anxiety and the end of school.

Here are the conversations we've had so far, and scroll down to a look at the ones to come in July and August (which will also be available via Youtube Live):

July 20: WLRN's editorial director Alicia Zuckerman connects with a nurse, an electrician and a restaurant manager about some of the practices they are using as they work with and talk about the protective measures used to slow the spread of COVID-19.

July 13: How do you stay connected to the people and issues you care about during the pandemic? Digital editor Lance Dixon heard from a group of community organizers, leaders of civic organizations and business owners about the steps they’re taking to remain connected.

June 29: Parenting through the pandemic has had moments of joy. It's also posed real challenges, like working from home or worse — losing income. This week, WLRN's Jenny Staletovich spoke with parents dealing with their kids.

June 22: The Keys are back open after a two-month closure to protect the island chain from the pandemic. This week, WLRN's Keys reporter Nancy Klingener connected with locals about whether they want to return to the way life was in the "old normal."

June 15: WLRN's Caitie Switalski listened to people across the region speaking about how they're coming together in socially-distant ways to mark some of life’s major moments.

June 8: We explored the ways South Floridians are coping with anxieties and stresses brought on by the pandemic and deep pain resurfaced by the race and social justice protests, with WLRN's Wilkine Brutus.

June 1: We heard about the strange, creative and uplifting ways South Floridians marked the end of a school year with WLRN's Jessica Bakeman.
