Friday nights are full of mystery and suspense on WLRN.
Starting at 8:00 p.m. on January 31, tune into Channel 17 for two of Britain’s most gripping crime series - DCI Banks and Dalziel & Pascoe - then stay and watch Circus, a revealing peek into the character-filled world of a real-life traveling show:
DCI Banks: Friend Of The Devil (8:00 p.m.)
When Karen Drew is found sitting in her wheelchair staring out to sea with her throat slit, DI Annie Cabbot is assigned the case.
That same Sunday morning, 19-year-old Hayley Daniels is found raped and strangled in a tangle of narrow alleys behind Eastvale's market square after a drunken night on the town with a group of friends. DCI Alan Banks investigates.
Banks finds suspects galore, while Annie seems to hit a brick wall, until she reaches a breakthrough that spins her case in a shocking and surprising new direction, one that also involves Banks. As Banks and Annie dig into the investigations, they find themselves also dealing with the emotional baggage and personal demons of their own relationship.
Dalziel &Pascoe: An Advancement Of Learning, Part 1 (9:30 p.m.)
Dalziel and Pascoe are thrown into academic life when the body of a former university principal, Alison Girling, who supposedly died in a bus crash in Austria, is found beneath her own memorial statue.
The detectives struggles to make any headway until the body of Anita Sewell, a student who has accused a professor of sexual harassment, is found naked on a nearby golf course.
Circus: Change On (10:30 p.m.)
On the eve of the circus’s first performance, one of the biggest acts is cut and the performers sent packing. Tensions are running high. Making matters worse, a seasoned company regular has been diagnosed with cancer and will drop out of the show. Lackluster ticket sales are not helping the situation.
The next stop is New York City and as the trailers hit the road again, everyone knows what’s at stake.
