A big special election race is shaping up for Palm Beach County’s District  87. Two candidates are vying for the open House seat left vacant after Governor Ron DeSantis appointed Mike Caruso as county clerk and comptroller.

The House on Thursday passed a bill (HB 991) on a 77-28 vote along party lines, imposing new identification requirements on voters, but it doesn’t take effect until Jan. 1, 2027.

Boca Raton’s mayoral race is still undecided. The contest between Mike Liebelson and Andy Thomson remains extremely close after a competitive three‑way race that also included Fran Nachlas.

Lake Worth Beach voters are weighing two city charter amendments that could reshape some of the city’s most treasured public spaces.

City of Miami voters Oscar Elio Alejandro, Victor Milanes, and Alex Almirola filed the legal action, demanding the "term limits reform overwhelmingly approved by voters through Referendum 4" be enforced "immediately and without exception."

The runoff election will take place on December 9th.
