It's 450 feet of larger-than-life rock n' roll novelty.

From the Florida Turnpike, the giant guitar building that lights up neon blue and green at night has been almost impossible to miss since construction broke ground in the summer of 2017.

Now, it's finally open to the public.

The new guitar-shaped hotel is part of the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Hollywood's $1.5 billion dollar expansion, for more gaming, dining, places to stay and shopping.

When an attorney representing the Miami Dolphins took the podium Wednesday during a meeting of the Miami Gardens City Council, he pointed out that the major events held at Hard Rock Stadium are turning the community into “the nation’s entertainment capital.”

That’s when a resident blurted out: “We don’t want it!”

That sentiment was resounding: Miami Gardens residents — or at least about 30 who addressed the council Wednesday — want nothing to do with a proposal that would bring an annual Formula One racing event to the stadium and a public road outside of it.

Formula 1 and Hard Rock Stadium on Tuesday announced a deal in principle to host an annual Miami Grand Prix race at the Miami Gardens venue beginning in May 2021.

The deal is pending approval from the Miami-Dade County Commission, which could table the idea later this month during its next commission meeting set for Oct. 29.

Miami will be in the Super Bowl next year regardless if the Dolphins win or lose. It’s all but guaranteed.

The game returns to South Florida for the 11th time in 2020.

It will have been a decade since the last Super Bowl was played here. The game, and all the fanfare surrounding it, has gotten bigger. Supporters say the economics of the game remain strong. And the Dolphin's gamble to renovate the stadium worked.

Hundreds of Seminole Tribe members and construction workers cheered as the final piece of steel was placed on top of the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino's new guitar-shaped building Monday in Hollywood.

At 450 feet tall, the new building will be a 638-room hotel on the existing casino's property on the Seminole reservation. One of two lakes on site were filled in to create space for the massive guitar next to an existing casino.
