Class of 2020 - Celebrating Student Achievements

Graduation ceremonies are the most important rite of passage to celebrate student achievement

Miami Dade County Public Schools and WLRN want to recognize this significant milestone for every student and honor the traditions of each school while following recommended social distancing policies.  We have all learned to adapt in innovative ways during this time and it is that creative thinking that will carry us through to make the most of this graduation season. 

Class of 2020, this is your time to shine.  Join us for a virtual celebration in your honor.  Beginning Monday June 8th and concluding on Tuesday June 16th, over 21,000 Miami Dade County high school seniors will be recognized through virtual graduation ceremonies, which can be viewed at their scheduled times on WLRN-TV and streamed on the District's website.  

These virtual graduations will still have the traditional pomp and circumstance including speeches and a roll call of graduates.

Mia Laurenzo is a 35-year veteran of public television in Miami. She began her career learning every aspect of video production. Currently she is a writer, producer, on-air host and promotions coordinator for TV, radio and the web.  Her experiences include producing for a series, special events and historical documentaries.  As a native Floridian, she is a perfect fit for South Florida's Storyteller Station, WLRN.  She has produced several award winning, nationally distributed documentaries and is the recipient of three Suncoast Regional Emmys.
